This unique alloy blend provides excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, boasting a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) typically exceeding 42. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength of at least 95,000 psi (650 MPa), yield strength of at least 45,000 psi (310 MPa), and an elongation of at least 35%. The inclusion of nitrogen enhances both structural strength and corrosion resistance. SMO 254 is also known for its excellent weldability, toughness, and formability, making it ideal for fabricating components that will face harsh environments.

SMO 254 hot rolled plates have high strength and resistance to corrosion, and therefore, can be used for heavy-duty applications.
