AWS Class ER309LSi Filler Wire and Rod is composed of about 23–25% chromium, 12–14% nickel, and a low carbon content (≤0.03%) to minimize the chances of intergranular corrosion. The inclusion of silicon (0.65–1.0%) enhances the fluidity of the weld pool and improves the surface finish. This austenitic filler metal boasts a tensile strength of around 550–650 MPa and an elongation of about 30%. It’s suitable for both MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding processes, providing smooth arc characteristics, minimal spatter, and outstanding corrosion resistance, especially when working with dissimilar metals or applying corrosion-resistant overlays in challenging environments.
